Another image from yesterday morning at Elkins Lake.

I would appreciate your critical comments.

Bill, it looks like a peaceful place to be..for some reason the exposure seems off.probably not, but the haze makes seeing the photo harder...

I had a play.....:o It had such a watercolor feel to it right off the bat( only my take)

Gail, thanks for the critique and the edit. I like your edit because it adds more depth to the hazy background. I agree about the watercolor feel.

Because of the extremely high brightness of the water due to the fog and sunlight reflections off the ripples, the background was somewhat underexposed to a rather murky dark appearance (like half way between black and middle gray) without much definition in the original image. I was not quite sure where to go with processing the background and finally decided on emphasizing the fog and sunlight while letting the contrast be of lesser importance.

I never was quite satisfied with the final result, but thought that might have been the result of indecision over too many post processing options.

I took a shot at it just to get some practice. I hope you don't mind.

I don't know.... my go at it anyway. Tried to get rid of the specular highlights so it looked more like fog than a big splash.

Love the foggy water with the light thru the trees. Very difficult capture. I split the image horizontally and adjusted the shore and water/fog separately. Basically added contrast to the two areas separately.
