I know that is a "macro" flash, but can you use it on things farther than say... 1 foot away?

Compare this with 43m for 430EX or 58m for 580EXII. So the answer would be yes to being able to use further than 1ft away, but I don't think it's a substitute for a speedlite for non-macro work. Sep 19, 2008 15:07 | #3 I just have some fun, almost barbie-esque photoshoots coming up that people want to play with non-traditional set ups with insane colors so I wanted to play with lighting and was thinking of renting one of these flashes, but my time might be better spent just playing with lamps and what not.
