'64 Pontiac GTO 389

Stan's '64 Pontiac GTO is numbers matching & is considered THE first muscle car where a big motor was an option ($295.00) in a small, lightweight LeMans body. It should put out about 360bhp, has the 389cid Tri-Power with 4-speed transmission & a 3.23 rear end.
He's had it since '02 & drives it 500 miles a year.

I especially like the "Sleeper option" of the dog dish hubcaps.

They all got a bit lack of contrast.

A lot of pictures were taken in the wrong direction so you had the sun in your camera, instead of on the object.

Pictures are good, not too exciting compositions though.

I like your pictures, although #5 looks like it's running down hill to me. A friend of mine in the service had a 65 tri-power with a 356 rearend as I recall. It was a beast, until it blew up which was a nasty habit of the 389.

I'd call it uphill from where it's pointing, but you're right. Should have seen them sooner, but I noticed that after I'd uploaded them. If I didn't give some guys something to complain about, this would go to page 2 with 150+ views & no comments at all?

I noticed that, too! My mother told me that about 50 years ago!

Did those have those Trans Am style dual chrome exhaust tips from the factory or is that a add on?

Frank, I am NOT into bestiality! Of course I might make an exception for a nice GTO.
Yeah, both brothers had GTO's. My older brother had a 64 like this one, complete with tripower and 4 speed, and my younger brother had a 65 with the same equipment. I believe the dual tips on the exhaust was an option on GTO's that carried forward into the Trans Ams.
I knew the 64 pretty well back then, as I was the elected mechanic. My older brother would have trouble changing his own oil.
My younger brother was more like me, and we worked on project cars together.

I completely agree on #4, everyone told me I was crazy for powder coating all the chrome engine parts I hard ordered black, but I just like a nice simple look under the hood. And that is certainly a nice simple engine, just the way I like'em . I also love the interior, just perfect!

Called my older brother tonight and he said they did not come with those dual tips. He said the exhaust terminated just under the rear bumper with standard tubing.
BTW, Did you know that Tigers can be best friends with a Goat?
