no, no animals were hurt, except for me. I was attacked by a swarm of mosquitos before I even got down to the wetlands. the blood sacrifice seemed to have appeased the birds though, and allowed me some decent shots (with a 70-200).

this GBH was trying to look as big as possible, to fend off the crows

Nice shots, Olin. I especially love the osprey. I was too far away from it to shoot it last week.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Thanks Maureen (it's Jeff though.. :P)

this one was actually way up the river, back further than i had gone before. The osprey shot was truly a blood sacrifice though. every second i stood there, more mosquitos showed up.

I literally shot the sequence of shots with at least 3 mosquitos attached to me. Luckily, i was wearing a turtle neck and pants, so they were just sucking blood from my FACE..

here's another one of the king fisher, a bit better, but much worse back lit.

Sorry, Jeff. I got your and Olin's name mixed up everytime and still making the same mistake. But I know your face and I promise I'll try harder.....
I enjoyed out walk together last week and hope you can join us when we make the trip down to Irvine in November.
