Hi,

I just got back from my son's baseball game, shooting couple hundred shots and found that the whole CF card is unreadable and needs formating. Has anyone had problems with this brand of flash (RiData). I've had Sandisk, and Transcend and never had a problems them.

Also, are there are tools which might be able to extract some of the photos. I know this a long shot. I know there are ways of recovering some data from crashed hard drives, so the problem may be similar.

Thanks.

I'd suggest trying Zero Assumption Recovery, they offer a free tool for recovering images and it has worked very well for me (so far it's the best I've found too).

THANK YOU! I was just about to reformat my CF. The recovery is very slow, but its worth the wait.

I lost all my photos on a 8gb Transcend card. If you're in the market for another card. PIck up a SankDisk that comes with RescuePRO.

RescuePRO was able to recover every single photo off the card.

I have found RescuePRO to perform pretty poorly, actually chose ZAR as a better program to replace it.

Transcend cards have error detection and correction, they're meant to be reasonably reliable. Sandisk doesn't have error correction, but i've personally not had a failure yet. Ridata are cheap...

Thanks for the info. Bought the RiData because it was cheap. Now I'm going buy another CF because I'm scared of it's reliability- now this is not so cheap. Lesson learned. Penny wise, pound foolish.
