Today I went to The Battle of Chickamauga civil war reenactment. Very cool stuff. There were alot more people, both participants and spectators than I thought would be there. The participants were very meticulous to be true in dress to the time period. There were stands where you could outfit yourself in period dress from head to toe, including your skivvies. Not cheap, though. Some of those long johns must have been L because they were both red and expensive.;) Anyway, here's a few pics I took. I think I like the panoramic crops best as they give a better idea of the scale. There were probably several thousand participants in the battle.

The participants really went all out to be authentic. You can see how they were dressed and it was about 85 degrees. A couple of them passed out from the heat and they had to call timeout during the battle. Not sure how authentic that was.:)

Yeah, no video game, long distance battles back then. Up close and personal.
Of course, I don't think they had announcers back then.

This man was announcing the battle and firing up the crowd. "C'mon! Let's get them Yanks on the run!" ...Direct quote.

Great shots. We went to this last year and had a great time. It was really hot then too, 90s if I remember correctly. I loved the set ups they had with the medic scene and tents and stuff. It was neat to see historical stuff set up like that.

Nice set of images. I really like the way you were able to keep modern backgrounds out. These look real.

Thank you. There were only a few power poles to try and keep out of the frame. One of the reasons for the panorama crops. That truck is supposed to be one of the last surviving Ford pick-ups from the Civil War, but I think that sound system was just a replica.:D

I'm going to a similar event in a couple of weeks. I only hope I can capture images as good as these. Well done, sir.

Great pictures, the panos really do give you a sense of the scale, and there is no 21st Century Intrusion at all.

I think some of those would look great in B&W or sepia.
