On the CF card in my 40D it always puts a misc folder, it's always empty, anyone know why it gets created and what it's for?

In the Canon Software Starter Guide on page 82 it says that the misc directory is to story DPOF settings. I've never done direct printing so I'm not sure what exactly would go there. Maybe I shoud try the print button at least once in my life. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I mean point and shoot ![]() and I've formatted it in the camera and on the PC.I don't think it's the P/S camera itself, it's the technology developed for the P/S that is also carried over into the SLRs. I'm not sure about the early Digics, but Digic3 was first used in P/S land where face detection and landscape detection was needed. That technology was then brought to SLRs. I'm guessing that the misc directory is simillar, developed for the P/S market and came oover to SLRs. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
