And you continue to be wrong. There are already batteries coming on the market that claim to be fully compatible with the LP-E6 battery.
If Canon really intended to squeeze 3rd party makers out of the market, they could easily have used a hash algorithm to encrypt the registration numbers. They apparently haven't done that.
If you want an example of a bad practice, look at the way Epson re-chips its printers every few months (with no model changes or new features at all) just to prevent the use of 3rd party ink.
But Canon has provided a greatly improved product and did not take special measures to prevent anyone from copying it.
