i believe so, another forum member emailed digital Rev and got told they were 1800mAh...:)

thanks

that website sucks though...
they're trying to fool stupid people to pay some kind of Import Handling fee...
what the hell is that suppose to be???
Customs won't take any handling fee if the total amount is under 125€ ....

-.-

I bet the same factory that make these "special batteries" for Canon from 9:00-5:00 will make their own "generic battery with same specs from 5:00pm-9:00am :)

Canon will be better off just getting out of battery business and asking "generics" pay some kind of small "usage fee" to stick a "Canon Certified" logo to generic batteries.

So far nobody has been able to imitate the chip used in the 5DII batteries. Even the newest 3rd party batteries with chips in them (apparently allowing you to charge them with the standard charger) still can't properly send battery life info to the camera.

Oh yeah? Last I heard even the chipped one didn't transmit battery life info, but you keep up with the scene much more than I do, so don't take my word for it.

There are 3rd party batteries available on ebay that will work with the 5DII. They will not report the percentage left or any other info. They also will not work with the Canon charger and must be charged on a 3rd party charger. The 3rd party charger will not charge the Canon OEM batteries.

Yes. I have one but have been afraid to use it - based on some scary comments on an earlier post!

I've got strong feelings about this and have discussed them in other posts. Canon have specified a proprietary product in order to intimidate consumers into using an unneccessarily high priced product. When they decide to stop supplying an own-brand proprietary battery in a few years time, there would be the risk of "no supplies". However, Canon don't make the batteries anyway, and there will always be copy versions and by then we will all realise that any manufacturer can make a battery to Canon's specification for the 5D2 and there will sensible prices based on a competitive market.
Canon should concentrate on doing what they do best and bringing camera body specifications and features into line with what consumers are asking for. Batteries are just a diversion, and the fact that they haven't been able to source adequate quantities since launch of the 5D2 proves just how bad things can be when suppliers get involved in products they can't make.

My message to Canon is "move over and stick to doing what you do best".

I completely agree.

sell it to someone else and see what happens :D

it sucks that if you count the hidden surcharge @digitalrev, you get almost the same price as the original one... i'd rather buy 2 originals for 80 bucks more than use the 3rd party ones..

although digitalrev ones do look tempting... (if they come from the same factory)

There are good and bad batteries out there, many of the ones you will find on sites like Ebay are very cheap knock off batteries. Cheap lithum batteries can not only harm your camera but could catch fire and do way worse to you and your family.
There are repital 3rd party manufactures out there, and most can be found in good camera stores, be sure both the company and the store stand by there batteries.

This is what Digital Rev said about their battry in the ad:

Full compatibility LP-E6 Battery for Canon EOS 5D II. This battery has built-in SN chip, and is fully compatible with EOS 5D II battery information standard. This Battery does NOT require those 3rd party chargers to work. Simply use your own Canon original charger. Works just like original batteries.

They don't have an auction up for them right now. They may simply have sold out (I wouldn't expect their supplier to be cranking them out any faster than Canon's) or they could have had problems.

Interesting info on the Digital Rev battery. I'll be keeping an eye out for user reviews once these start trickling out.
