Finally got the chance to shoot football with my Sigma 150-500mm OS. Part of thinks it too much lens for it, but the the light was pretty good. I shot in aperture-priority with it wide open, and at ISO 400. But the one thing i forgot to bring was my battery back-up for my camera's grip so i got around 65 pics, before the camera died.I like some of the shots i got, but i definitely need more practice. here are 2 that i like, so please give me some pointers and please C&C them too. Ive noticed that i do have the saturation in-camera set lil high, so now im just going to set to standard for now on. Thanks for looking!

The shots look good to me. How fast did the 150-500 focus? I have an XTi as well and have the Canon 70-200 f/4 and I am looking at a longer lens when my daughter moves to the full size soccer fields next year. Your shots look good, and if the lens focuses fast then that is a big plus.

Nice action...Looking at the exif, try dropping the speed to about 1/1250th and stop it down to maybe 6.3 or 7 to get a sharper image.
Good Luck!

the 150-500 drains that much battery?

+1 and shoot portrait orientation. Unless you're going for a line shot. I haven't seen too many pics taken with the 150-500.

the focus was ok with my XTI. I just forgot to check my battery life before we left and didnt bring my back-up battery pack either. Im hoping to be able to go to this weekends game and give it another try (as long as I dont have to work overtime this weekend). thanks for the comments. and heres one more with them at the line.
