When I had my P-3000 I had three additional batteries for it and charged all those with a cheap charger from ebay. That way I was never tied to a wall when I wanted to use my photo viewer. i followed your advice and bought a charger too, which i used every day while in africa. i also bought an extra battery but i should have bought two. http://instagram.com/edraderphotography/

Sep 24, 2008 00:27 | #18 Thanks, Ed. I have a spare battery, though I have found myself on the road before for a few days, and hence a bit more comfortable to just setup the epson with an external HDD at the hotel, and transfer photos and whatnot once or twice a day. I think in one of such trips, I must have neglected the AC adapter, now that I think about it. --Mario

For portability though, which is the ultimate goal of this handy little device, the charger and batteries do make a killing. As far as my daily purposes, the AC Adapter has been missed quite a bit. Mario -- i bought the portable charger for africa because it was smaller plus it allowed me to use the epson while a battery was charging. http://instagram.com/edraderphotography/

Going with multiple batteries and a separate charger means you can be up and running on the go for a lot longer! I try to do that with all my electronics. [Gear List | Flickr

The beauty of the Epson for me, is that it sucks the photos off of a 4Gb card in about three minutes, so I have it strapped on me somehow, and while one card is in the camera, the other is in the device. It shuts down by itself, so energy usage is not horrible. Just put the card in, turn it on, tell it to backup, then let it be, and whenever you need the next card it is ready for a swap. --Mario

I returned my P-3000 and bough more memory. Cheaper and IMO more reliable. I can wait till I get home to view my pictures and besides they always need adjusting anyway as I shoot strictly in RAW.
