B17 'Pink Lady'

Hi All

Someday I will have good conditions at all airshows I get to but here are a couple of this "old lady" which I understand is likely to have been her last appearence. What poor skies I had again.....???

I hope to post a few more in the next day or two of some of the other attendees at this show (Jersey Air Display).

Insurance costs?

always good to hear and see a B17 flying... why wont it be flying anymore?? thats too bad

Nice job with the conditions you had.

Beautiful old bird, I can only imagine what it would have been like to see hundreds or even thousands of them flying overhead when they were in action.

Therefore, given that mechanically she is in pristine condition and that there is no shortage of qualified pilots, it is clear that it is only the French government (whether by inappropriate insurance costs, absence of funding, and idiotic laws) that is doing everything possible to assure she is grounded, for she will fly as long as the ATV can cover insurance costs.

Great couple of shots....the B17 is my favorite bird. Too bad about possibly being grounded permanently.

Yes and the more meaningfull to realise that so few have survived as flying examples.

Yes, it does seem it is down to the combo of suitable pilots & insurance rather than airworthiness.

Thanks, I think this if the first time I have seen a B17 and do hope she gest to stay 'in the air'.
