I shot my first wedding Saturday. To say it was on short notice would be an understatement. The couple decided they wanted to get married 2 weeks ago. They work with my wife, so she volunteered me for the wedding and I didn't even get to meet the couple until an hour before the ceremony.

I got lucky that the tiny church had white ceilings so lighting was a big issue. I know they are amateurish compared to some of you pros, but I was satisfied with how things came out.... especially since I am not getting paid for this!

The white balance is off on all the portraits. Just warm them up a little in PP. They are all purple and need some work, but for an emergency wedding, it's okay. Just watch for the flash shadows during the ceremony. This is why pros bounce the light off the ceiling. The format you have for the first one, with the split screen doesn't flatter the images. Think about the second half. Just seeing the mid-part of people doesn't make it interesting. But the rings shots are important, just not when it covers up something like that. But I'm not saying that it's wrong. When I do weddings, I'm pretty straight forward, the image is it and I don't put borders or combine pictures. But that's just my style. People hire me for that. You are new, so you need to find something that works for you.

5 and 7 look like the white balance was nearly right, but the rest of them have nearly a bluish cast to them...otherwise, they're very nice for a first try, considering all the circumstances, especially!

Your pictures suffer from a lack of depth. Try staggering the bride and groom and playing with dof.

Also, strobist.com is your friend. It'll help selectively light your subjects, rather than ending up with a flat picture.

Thanks for the tips folks. Hopefully I will never have to shoot another wedding, but the tips will come in handy for other situations.

Agreed with comments that there is a purple cast on some; a bit of warmth could help.
Adjusting WB will help.
