Those cars over there are cool looking. I wish the designers of American cars had some style like that. Nice spin on a classic design.

Gotta Love "B"

Ought to go in the Dictionary as an example for "Understatement"

As MagicMarker said, that is a taxi, with that particular design being about 10 years old.

Commonly known as black cabs - although they are not always black, the one in the photo was silver - they are produced by London Taxis International . Mostly for use as taxis in London, unsurprisingly, as well as a few other UK cities, but you can buy them privately both here and abroad.

Though they are expensive at over £30,000 new. Also the ones produced in the second half of 2006 have suddenly started spontaneously combusting!

It reminded me of the end of the old 1960s SF film The Day The Earth Caught Fire. In that the bomb tests in the nuclear arms race caused the Earth's orbit to change, sending it towards the sun.

Although scientists came up with a plan that could possibly fix the problem, the film left the ending open. So it closes with two versions of the newspaper waiting to be printed pending the result of the experiment. One saying something like "world saved" and the other "world doomed".

I also find something ominous about this supposedly reassuring headline proclaiming such great news, and yet there seems to be no one around.

Michael.
