Love the composition. Excellent shot.

Actually.. this was the sidewalk opening for a tree down by Newbury street.. the bulges are caused by the tree's roots..

Every opening down there is like this.. I was thinking of taking a shot of the tree, but the background was just too busy and distracting for you to notice the interesting "brick sea"

That's what I like about the shot - the isolation. It tells a bit of a story in an abstract sort of way and doesn't spoon-feed the viewer. I think that if I saw cause of the "ripples" I wouldn't find it as intriguing.

Cool catch. B&W would be a nice treatment as would shades of blues/greens since you're going for a wave thing!

At the very first glance, they reminded me of roof shingles.

Prefer the original photo though.

Yea.. I like the desaturated blues/reds over the tinted/lighted

Love the original.

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”
