Nice pic...I've been watching the game tonight.
I was at the stadium two weeks later for a Saturday game vs. the Blue Jays. I took my nine year old son (wanted to have him visit the stadium before its gone), we had seats nearby this shot down by the left field foul pole.

We took home our own Yankee Stadium memory. About 11:15 am, just after the gates opened, we were in the area between the retired numbers and Monument Park when we heard someone yell "watch your heads!". Split second later my son took a batting practice home run right in the ribs. Thankfully it was a glancing blow and only knocked the wind out of him for a couple minutes.....but he got the ball! Not sure which Yankee hit it, but it is 399 to the fence there.

Spoken like a true baseball fan...

Big night in the Bronx tonight and I hope they go out with a win.

I was really glad I fnally got a chance to work @ The Stadim for last years' ALDS Vs Cleveland.

Being from Philadelphia it was great to have my son and wife up for a great day.
It was their first trip.
My first trip to Yankee stadium was the Thurman Munson Memorial in 1979. My cousin Nick and I had tickets for the entire weekend against the Orioles.
Almost got my first foul ball. As I was reaching for it I felt a rather large man climbing my back trying to get the ball. As I was just sixteen at the time and 145 pounds soaking wet, I blocked, elbowed and shed this 200 pound plus man from my back. As the ball went in the hands of another fan. I hear my cousin say: Did you get the ball?
Looking behind me he said' Nicky, down here" To my surprise, I leveled my cousin flat on his back.
Four years of College football I never shed a blocker as good as that night in Yankee Stadium.

My nine year old son = Nick!!! Though were not Greek and we are in Baltimore!!

I grew up in West Nyack NY, as a Mets fan, though I do remember the Oriole-Yankee series following Munson's death.

My son calls himself a "ball magnet"...he has incredible luck getting foul balls, batting practice balls or balls thrown from the players. Though after the Yankee Stadium incident he may play that down a little. He has over 30 baseballs now, most from Oriole Park. We made it to the new park in Philly this year, very nice stadium.

It was great listening to Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford during the broadcast tonight. Seeing all the old-timers and old film is very touching.

There are Nick's everywhere.
My father took my brother and I to the last game at Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia in 1970. We went to the first game at my beloved Veterans Stadium in 1971.
My brother and I closed the Vet with our two boys in 2003.
My father, my brother with his son and my wife and my son opened the Phillies beautiful ball park in 2004.
To me these are the cathedrals that I attend regularly.
All of the great times and memories make a night like tonight so special.
And yes a tear has rolled down my cheek as we close another Stadium.
