I am NOT a professional or even a decent amature at coding website and such, but smugmug had awesome tutorials and I think I nearly have it looking the way I'd like it to look.....please offer honest opinions!

Hi Diane,

I took a look at the site and I like the general design. Nicely designed banner and your menu should contain all the information you need to navigate throughout. Here are the things I noticed while browsing around which you might want to look into (all IMHO, of course):

  • Height of pictures in slideshow: If you are not working in 1280x1024 (or maybe 1440x900), the height of your slideshow pictures force you to scroll down to see the whole picture or the footer, thereby losing sight of the banner and menu. IMHO, it would be better to optimise your slideshow to be lower resolution friendly so that prospective customers who do not have high resolution monitors can navigate without issues.
  • Gallery / Slideshow controls in "About Me": I believe those should be hidden (you can find examples on how to do that in the customization FAQ (external link), under "Hiding stuff I don't like"). Also this section makes the header (banner/menu) disappear.
  • Gallery / Slideshow controls in "Print Pricing": Same as above. The header is fine though.
  • Some galleries seem to lose the header.
  • Portrait Info: User HTML or at least disable all the picture rating / gallery option controls.
  • Blog should include link back to gallery at the top? Would make coming back to Smugmug easier.
  • E-mail me currently contains a dummy address
Hope you find something of use in the remarks above.

Thanks so much Wendelius! Those are exactly the sorts of things I was hoping for!
