I am so Grand Dog Needy today !!!...

Ok. So I am trying to convert some .AVI files onto ipod touch or iphone mode (.MP4 I think?). Anyhow, I cannot find the name of any reliable software. Would you post which conversion software you use, and why you like it?...

Thanks.

dumb question, but can you just open them with paint, and choose save as a jpeg, then put them in your ipod folder?

Hmm, saving AVI's as JPG's? Don't think it works that way...
There are many coverters available online, but if I call correctly I used to add downloaded music videos to the media libary on my sisters Ipod and it automatically converted them

I used an open-source application called Handbrake (external link).

+1 for Handbrake. All of the guys I work with in the TV industry who use Mac swear by it.

They can seemingly rip anything to anything. Pretty cool to see someone with Band Of Brothers (the complete series) on their HD and be able to download episodes (IIRC like three at a time) to their iPods and/or PSPs...

Thanks, I will look it up right now.

Band of brothers, I still dont own the metal box with all the series, but I used to have all episodes downloaded. Without a doubt, the longest -and yet best, to me at least- WWII movie ever (what, 10-15Hrs total runtime?...Hehe, goodbye the Longest Day, Tora Tora Tora, and all others !!).

If I saw 5 mins of an episode right now, I can assure you I would neglect everything else and stay sitting and watch the rest of the series at least from that point forward.

Anyhow, Handbrake souns good because it is Open Source. THere are millions of programs out there which promise success, but they're all $30 bucks and up. Will see what happens.

Cheers.
