The African bush is filled with fast-flittin' 'little brown birds' that are easy to ignore because you just can't get a fix on any. When you actually find one that is prepared to sit for more than a second then most are very pretty and worth a shot like this little Flycatcher.

Beautifull, when we visit the parks we call those brown birds " V V V's " - vreemde vaal voeltjies, that is Afrikaans for unknown dull birds

great shots, really like the first one.

How do you find the 400 5.6 + 1.4x combo? I'm thinking of getting a converter to add onto my MkII + 400 5.6 for birding and longer shots.

Two beautiful shots. Love the bokeh in the first shot and the perch in the second. Excellent work. :-)

Best regards

Well it is an awesome combo because the 400mm has the quality wide open, so at 8.0 with the TCon you can still do fine in good African light. I kept the tcon on most of the time and got some great shots. Use of AF with the Mk II N just makes life very easy with 560mm compared to a non 1D body.
