Saw one of these last year in Botswana but couldn't get a shot due to the very harsh light so was delighted to see this guy perched happily singing away. Difficult light again and a heavy crop but worth a pop.

1D Mk II N with 400mm 5.6 L and 1.4x 1/1000, 8.0, 200.

I see them in my garden everyday, never bothered to photograph them.

I would love to see one in the wild again. The reason I say again is because when I was a lot younger (in the 60's) I saw one in SW London, yes it was an itinerant visitor to the UK. I was getting into ornithology and had no idea what 'that unusual bird' was until I looked it up and got advice about such strange visitors to our shores.

You guys & gal(s) had a great GAPS2 trip but where all the others posting or I am missing them???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

You got an excellent shot of this cutie, Dave.

Oh yes, it's hard to tell the others how amazing the African nature is without seeing it with your own eyes.

I feel sort of guilty not having had the time to concentrate on POTN after the trip but I promise to post some of my shots soon. Luckily we have been able to enjoy Dave's great shots.
