I took these a while ago (last year) with my long suffering cheap point & shoot camera. I quite liked the shots and these photos are what inspired me to take the plunge and buy a DSLR a couple of weeks ago based on some of the feedback from other people.

These are pretty much as they came off the camera....I'd like them to be a little sharper.

Comments and feedback appreciated (but please remember they were from a p&s and I am a complete novice with cameras!)

Once I get to grips with my DSLR I'd love to get some better shots of it.....:D

It's a great location for that.

I'd like them to be a little sharper.

One thing that works fairly well is to select the area that most needs to be sharp, & only sharpen that. Or sharpen that just a bit more than the rest of the image. I'll usually, but not always, use a feather on the selection so it blends in well with the rest of the image.
My favorite selection tool:

Thanks for the feedback.

PhotosGuy - unfortunately I don't have photoshop, so images are pretty much left as they come off the camera....but I hope to do something about that soon seeing as I now have a DSLR to cut my teeth on.

I think I'll be needing photoshop or something similar before too long. I might then go back over some of my old photos (like these ones) and tweak them a little.

Thanks again,

MM.

more of an angle would have helped and some rears ;) (instead of about 2 or 3 shots from the same angle)

PS Elements will do most anything you need to do & a lot of people here use it. If you're a student, you can even get a discount on it.

Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone....

This is a shot I took a few months back by complete chance - I was just coming out of an office in town when I saw the police rider coming down the road towards my parked up motor. Luckily I had my camera on me (cheap point & shoot) and I managed to get grab this shot before the hrose had gone.

I didn't have time to wait for the focus - just turned the camera on and fired in a kinda panic! Pretty pleased with the result considering.....

I used a friends computer to tone down the colours and highlight the hi-viz jacket. (I don't have photoshop) Not normally a fan of this sort of thing, but thought it lent itself to a bit of colour selection?

You're off to a great start dude. I can't wait to see more of this thing, I love it.

I like the last shot of the original post, but I'd try to back down on the extreme angle though.
