Am I wasting my time/money with this ebay stuff?

I had one of these but it didn't last but maybe a year. And it's not like I use them all the time.

Even though I have many pocket wizards I still have a few ebay remotes that I like to use. For me it is worth the few bucks--- works great.

I bought one of the phottix ones off ebay (previous generation I believe) and while it isnt anywhere close to the highest of quality accessories, its also very cheap, works very well for what I use it for, and comes in hand more often than I thought it would. I find it especially useful when there's pictures I actually want to be in as opposed to always being behind the camera.

You know, I was pretty fed up with the orginal unit that I purchased after about a year. Seemed to have 'battery issues'. I did have that one problem someone mentioned about the button being depressed in the bag and draining the battery.

I bought a new battery two weeks ago, and it seemed to be hit and miss. Come to find out, it was the wrong battery size. Not sure where I 'hiccuped' on that one. But now it seems to be working fine so I'll use this until it fizzles out on me again.

Thanks for the input.

I purchased a wireless shutter release on eBay from Yikeworld (Isn't that a heck of a company name?)

http://cgi.ebay.com …Q_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 (external link)

It works just fine. It would not work at first and I emailed their customer sevice, I got a reply the next day instructing me to remove the plastic wrap from the receiver battery (there was no instructions and the plastic was hard to see). Once I removed the guilty plastic the unit performed just great.
