I know off the G9 topic, but I thought this camera was pretty impressive. DSLR sized sensor, retro look etc, etc, etc.

Pretty cool stuff.

Yeah, that new Oly m4/3 looks awesome. If they really do end up with that form factor for a reasonable price, with the just announced 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens....I'll drop my G9 and go for that as my compact in a second. How awesome would that be to have DSLR performance, with interchangeable lenses, in a body roughly the size of a g-series cam? I'd like to see a rangefinder VF at some point as well, though.

Great potential here. I just can't seem to warm up to the small sensors after using a DSLR.

Now, the big question is "How much?" If the pricepoint is reasonable I'm definitely in.

Retro look? Eh, I'd prefer a sleek, professional G9-style look to this design which looks as if taken from a Pottery Barn catalog. Still, very nice to see larger sensors coming to smaller cameras.

A very exciting new camera. Large sensor, small camera, changeable lenses. Its like having your cake and eating it too. I will be buying one.

hmm... i posted the same topic over a month ago and got no replies :) ho hum...
to me, i am not too keen on smaller sensors sizes, but I do admire Olympus' ideology on 'breaking the camera mould' and trying something adventurous and new.

going the other way (larger), Leica are breaking the camera mould with the announcement of the S2:

"Its sensor is 56% larger than those used in 35mm full-frame DSLRs" << now this does appeal to me more...

Hope the lens collection isnt as expensive as a DSLR. It then just becomes a yuppie toy.
