Well, I posted my own card last week and for the most part, no one here really cared for it. Here is a card I made for a local salon. Since this creation, the logo has dropped the silvery rectangle thing behind the name. The salon owner wanted faces on the card for each individual employee.

Looks good. I do not know why people like faces on cards...now this girl is a good excuse to put her face on her card but most people don't look so good. I always laugh at real estate signs with photos of the agent on the sign......ick.
Back to the post--- good job. I think you did well!

I don't usually comment on business cards. However, I think a better looks would be if the model was looking into the image.

2 points:
1. I love the dimensional effect going on, but am not completely sold on the texture on the background's rectangle border.
2. the gradients look very elegant, however the white top right corner of the frame around the picture is a bit distracting.

the back is excellent. the front just needs minor touch up, but good job bringing prominence to the phone number, which is the most important information on the card. overall, an 8 out of 10.

I agree with the owner to drop the silvery rectangle, also joenlh makes a good point about the direction of the eyes. The one thing that bothers me is you have to look for the persons name. Reading top to bottom left to right, it is the last thing you see. I would maybe try to tie it into a gradient like the phone number to give it more "pop." Otherwise It looks great, very nice and clean design and warm and fuzzy too. Excellent work.

I think overall, this is very elegant and modern. Sleek. I agree that it takes some hunting to find the name. Perhaps it's better to put the name under the headshot. I also agree about getting rid of the silvery background. On a business card, you want to be able to identify the name of the business readily. The texture on the background detracts from the clarity of the salon's name. I especially like the back of the card. I think it's cleaner than the front. I don't like how the logo on the front overlaps with the salon's name; it makes the word "salon" appear as if it has two Ss. What also bothers me is that the faded border in teh background contrasts with the crisp outline of the headshot and the background color directly behind the text does not blend with the rest of the card very well.

Sorry... that went on way longer than I intended. Very much so, though, I like the feel of the card.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

thanks for the comments! Out of about 4 logos, the one the owner picked(on the front) sort of turned into the one that is on the back of the card..which is simple and clean. Something you could stamp on anything.

I never really thought of the eye thing. Good thinking.

Maybe swapping "Sophia" and website address locations with correct color usage. Lower the reg address and put "sophia" on top of the address closer to the picture.

I like it. I think it'd be better if the person was looking at the camera.
