In the need for a larger CF card. I have been using two Lexar 2GB cards for 2-3 years now, and they have been fine, but I have a trip planned next month where something larger would be very helpful.

After reading back a couple years on various CF threads here, I have decided to go with a Sandisk Extreme III 4GB card. Ideally, I wanted an 8GB card, but diversified as I describe below.

I am very tempted by Kingston, and almost went with an 8GB from them, but decided to buy a Kingston 4GB card and try it out at home in less critical situations, etc. Then, if I am satisfied with the reliability, I could go for Kingston later on.

I also bought a Transcend 4GB card because it was so cheap. It was like adding almost nothing to the order money-wise, so I thought "Why not?'.

If I remember, I'll report back with some thoughts and results after I've had a chance to use them for awhile.

I use only Sandisk Extreme III in my cameras, other brands may work just fine but why take chances.

Remember, Stressed spelled backward is Desserts.:)
Suggestions welcome.

On the flip side... why pay more than you need to? If you don't need to, of course.

Consider it as insurance. I'd rather pay more for something I know is going to work then risking losing something like pictures. What's $20 in this field anyways? Why pay more for IS? :P

LOL should be fine with all of them. I use Transcends (the cheapo orange ones), SanDisks, Lexars ... nary a problem.

The only problem I ever did have where I lost data was on a SanDisk. It happens.

Happily, not often ;)
