I junked my RC2 clamp and replaced it with the Markin QR60 clamp. Far better performance if a little expensive for a monopod.

I have no Manfrotto clamps

However, I have some friends who have replaced the RC2 Manfrotto clamps on their Manfrotto 488 heads with Kirk Arca compatible clamps and the units seem to work just fine.

Not that I have ever seen they dont. I highly recommend going the Really Right Stuff route though.

Thanks Ben, I have a RRS "L" bracket for the XTi I won on Ebay. Now trying to find three Arca-Swiss style clamps. One for Monopod, Bushawk and Manfrotto ball head!

Both Kirk and RRS have modified the Manfrotto 3232 monopod swivel with their Arca compatible clamps. RRS has two styles and Kirk has the MPA-1 which I own. It is a great addition to my Arca compatible support family.

Bushhawk's own clamp is Arca-Swiss compatible. I bought their clamp and the Kirk plate on my 100-400 fit it just fine...

Both Kirk and RSS make clamps that can be used to modify Manfrotto ballheads. I use a Kirk clamp on my 488RC2. (Well, it was an RC2 until I took the Manfrotto clamp off of it...)

Where can I find information on this conversion?

All you have to do is buy on of the Bogen ballheads without a clamp on it and but the RRS or Kirk clamp you want and screw it on. Done.

Thanks again Ben, your a great resource! I have a 486RC2 ball head, but guess I will sell it and get a 488 head less the RC2. Just purchased a Acratech clamp from Vistek of Canada and it is being shipped today!
