I ended up going on Saturday, when low lying clouds were threatening enough to consider grounding half of the scheduled flights. Thankfully the clouds rose, and ultimately no flights were canceled......only some paratroopers were given the ax.

So feel free to give CC with the given conditions known. There was a LOT of PP in some pictures, to recover what I couldn't capture with the camera. Since it was overcast, my setup seemed to be searching a lot when focusing too......maybe it was the extender?

Fwiw.......30D, 70-200 f2.8 (non-IS), and a Canon 2X extender.....

A link to all I decided to upload........and 8 pics below...

1 & 4 are very nice shots. The weather helped you out.

Nice shots! I just finished uploading mine, but still going through them and processing. I see you caught the killer moisture in #7. I lowered my camera just as it happened. :( Where were you shooting? A few of us met up. There were TONS of cameras there!

My wife made me walk around with her instead of sitting in the bleachers and shooting. (grumble grumble) What kind of PP (in general) did you do to these? I used the same lens combo you did, but with the overcast skies I lost of a lot of the detail on the gray military planes and I'm wondering how I can get it back.

If you can list all your gear in your sig line, you don't have enough stuff.

I figured there had to be some PTON'ers there, and was shocked to not see any more pics. I am looking forward to seeing more though. And yes, there were a TON of DSLR's on hand.......lots of white glass.

I began shooting from around where that FedEx plane was on the tarmac (near the amphi vehicles). After about 15 minutes, I moved to the furthest point up the air strip as possible........but I was standing a good 50 feet from the crowd.

The only PP I really did consisted of shadows/highlights. I too lost quite a bit of detail, but that tool alone recovered 95% of my pictures.....with nothing much else needed. Play around with the scales if you haven't used that tool before, I am willing to bet you will have the same results that I did. :)

Nice shots. I'm sure they turned out better than mine. I havent even downloaded them off my camera yet. The weather on Saturday was a bummer, but I'm glad they didnt cancel. I was wondering if anyone else from this site was there...

Well I wasn't looking forward to seeing what I ended up with on the memory card, but I was pleasantly surprised. Rip those things and put them up......I want to see some different shots from other people!

Thanks! That was the only jet I really cared about getting quality shots on, and I am happy with what I managed. :D

In #7 -- it's nice when you have your own cloud in tow. It would have been nice to get a profile shot.
