I trying to find a decent 4-way rail to shoot macro stills. The two that I have seen is the Adorama Macro Focusing Rail Set http://www.adorama.com/MCFRS.html (external link) and the Velbon http://www.adorama.com/VNSSM.html (external link)
From what I have read alot of ppl like both. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on which rail I might start out with? Thanks in Advance!

Used Rail

I purchased an older used Minolta rail on eBay for less than $50 including shipping. The rail is well made and works great. It is heavy duty and seems inductructible.

Sorry, I misread your post. MY minolta is a two way rail.

Wow, you didnt really wait that long to hear what others thought first... For a "best bang for the buck" macro rail I highly recommend the Velbon one for $99.

I had the "Adorama" version but found that there was too much backlash in the mechanism (especially when using the MP-E at higher magnifications). The "Velbon" doesn't suffer this but sadly lacks a scale for accurate focus stacking movements.

RRS focusing rail...a bit more expensive, but top-notch, no slip, no slop, no backlash. A beauty to behold...

Believe it or not I got one of these on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com …ZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (external link)

and it works great. It's tight, it locks, it has about 6 inches of travel.
