Although I had a wired release for my 30D and 40D cameras, I missed having a wireless release like I had on my 350D. It was nice to be able to actuate my 350D from a distance without any connection to the camera. This allowed me to include myself in group shots without the bother of runing back and forth tothe camera to initiate the self timer.

I found a remote wireless release which includes a transmitter and a receiver on eBay for a buy-it-now price of $22.99 with free shipping.

I decided to try it and I received the unit from China about a week after I ordered it. At first it didn't seem to work (there were no instructions) but, after email comunication with the seller; I learned that there was a plastic wrap over the receiver battery which needed to be removed.

After removing the platic wrap, the unit works just great. I haven't experimented to learn the maximum range of this unit but, I have used it up to twenty feet and there is no problem.

Yea the Phottix ones are usually pretty good for the cost. I own one myself and it comes in handy quite often.
