I don't really find a coordination problem. I think the trouble most people have is alternating between a pen and a mouse - you always have a learning curve when going back and forth.
Since wacom released the cheap but really workable widescreen format bamboo tablets, I've not used a mouse at all, except for the occasional game.
it's now completely natural and precise for me to 'mouse around' by pen alone. I did consider the cintiq series, but gave up on the idea since I don't think the screens in them are going to offer accurate enough colour reproduction to make it worthwhile looking down at it. I've spent $ on a nice screen which doesn't change colour on me when I'm a few degrees off-axis, and just don't think that's where the cost goes in a pen tablet.
