How to send the 300 f2.8 to Canon

I may need to send this lens in to Irvine Canon Service center to check the focus. How do you send it? Box it in the original case and box and double box it? or is there any other way?

Maybe I just drive down and drop it off :)

If I remember correctly, Canon will advise you on what to and what not to send with the lens. I believe they advise against sending the box and case.
