:D
Hello all -

I am looking for a database program for all my images.
I would like to be able to put the images in it, as well as being able to assign multiple search criteria for each image ie. sunsets, up north, year etc.

This is a GREAT web site.

I am new, VERY cool site.

Thank you.

Michael

Michael,

What OS are you using? Mac or Pc?

I would look into using maybe Lightroom by Adobe.

Lightroom will do exactly as you have outlined in your post. You could also have a look at iview media pro.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Take a look at IDimager. www.idimager.com (external link)
The program is excellent, cheap and customer service is first class. :D

Hi Michael, welcome to the forum.

You didn't mention whether or not it had to be a free program or you didn't mind paying for it.

If "free" is your choice then there are Picasa and Windows Live Gallery. I've just started using the latter one and it seems pretty good. You can have as many folders as you like and also "tag" photos too.

If you want sophisticated tagging and retreiving, look at AcDsee Pro.

I use it and can't think of an easier more flexible system.

Michael, I read that you wanted an application that will help you manage your photos. First you should know I work with the Windows Outreach Team and am here to help connect you with information that you may find valuable. I did not see what Operating system you are running, but if you are running Windows Vista, than you already should have Windows Photo Gallery, which is free and bundled with Vista. This should allow you “plug-n-play” capabilities with your camera as well as many cataloguing and tagging functionality for your photo’s. If you are not running Vista, I would recommend Live Photo Gallery, as it is a free download and has the same features plus some extras. Included in Live Photo are features that allow you publish your photos directly online to a Live Space, or to a blog, as well as sending your photos to a vendor for printing and delivery to a friend or relative, all from the one application. You can also use the Resize, Crop, Adjust and many other tools to work with your photo’s. I especially found the stitching tool to be great and easy to use for creating panoramic Photos. Check out the site and try it out, its free! http://download.live.com/photogallery (external link)
Good luck
Rick
