Looking to see if another Sigma Hood will fit the the 24-60. Maybe one that is a hair longer than the unit it comes with.

Reason: I am getting some flare in the image and view finder in some shots pending the angle of light. When I place my hand to cover the gap between the two "pedals" of the hood, the flare is gone.

Any suggestions? Alternatives?

Thanks.

The reason is the hood is made for a full frame body. You need a hood for a 38mm lens to fit just right. Maybe the 30mm hood will fit?

There are after market hoods that screw in just like a filter. Sometimes a very good alternative. I like metal hoods and get many from eBay seller Heavystar.

Anyone know off hand if the Sigma 30mm fits the same bayonette mount on the 24-60?

Black electrical tape.

On second though, the 30 is made for crop bodes, so it would be equivalent to a 19mm lens, so you would get some vignetting. You could always cut it away to make a perfect fit!

I like screw-in metal hoods, too. In most cases, they are smaller diameter than Canon monster hoods (which are designed to be reversible). This means they can be shorter for a given amount of shielding. So, they fit more easily into tight camera bags, and, I can leave them on all the time.

They typically only come in wide, normal and telephoto. For under $10, I'd say, try a normal. I had a normal on a Canon 28mm f1.8 and got zero vignetting.

I looked at the metal hoods, Telephoto or Regular. The ebay seller above send me the length of the hood so I am going to see which is closer to the sigma hood. Just need to fill in the gap between pedals. May come to electrical tape.
