I have recently become interested in photography and, like many who have more money than common sense, have purchased some really nice starter equipment.

I am excited about participating in the Canon Captures Catalina event (www.capturecatalina.com (external link)) as it will be my first real outing with my equipment. I am most interested in the workshops on swimsuit and landscape photography.

Today, I bought a nice Glass Taxi to haul my stuff, but I am wondering if I am missing something.

I have my gripped 40D with the L series lenses listed in my signature, along with my flash. I have a Stofen diffuser, my B+W UV filters, and a microfiber cloth. Am I missing something? Should I augment my travel kit in some way?

I appreciate your advice. I don't want to get all the way to Catalina Island and forget something critical.

I forgot about the Rocket Blower! I'll get one tomorrow. Thank you. No tripod though, as I didn't think I would need one for such an event.

How late in the day will you be staying on Catalina?

Remeber the sunset will be on the other side of the island from Avalon. You'll be on the shady side by mid afternoon...

This is good info since I have never been to Catalina. I will be staying until 6PM. How will this affect me?

Sunset (for Los Angeles) is at 643pm according to:

(Very handy site...)

So you'll be pretty well into evening at 6pm...

That is very helpful. I have a choice of doing the swimsuit workshop in the morning or in the afternoon. I think, based on that information, I'll choose morning.
