I'm looking feedback on the diana camera bag for digital SLR (swiss gear) which can be found at: http://www.bestbuy.com …960&cpncode=18-19590052-2 (external link)

anyone have one of these? I'm taking my kids to Ellis Island, but the thing is, with the security etc., I have to have something for the 30d that is very portable, but yet, will also pass through security. All I want to bring for this trip is a gripped 30d, a 24-105, 50 1.4, and the flash. This looks almost like a ladies handbag anyway, so it might be worth a try. I wanted to see if anyone here has this bag before I gotta take a ride to best buy, who carries it.

Thanks in advance.

Pat

I can definitely see the appeal in a product like that for the ladies... however, I don't think by the dimensions, that it's designed for a gripped anything... at least not with a lens attached. I'm sure your gear would fit when decoupled, but the lack of inside product shots is a bit disturbing.

Wow - what did I miss?? Working on deadlines all day and couldn't check back. Yeah the lack of inside photos of this bag is a killer, and I was hoping to avoid an unnecessary trip to best buy if I could which is why I asked here.

The appeal of the outside part of this bag, is that the security is actually quite tough at Ellis Island/Statute of Liberty, and I had hoped if the dimensions were right, it could not scream photographer at me, like other bags. My AS (airport security by TT) is no good here, as rolling bags are not permitted (and besides - there no reason to take the 120-300 on a trip like this), and neither are backpacks. Anything that could be used like a weapon (tripods and monopods) are also not permitted. Flash photography is allowed, so at least that's something. I want to travel light this time.

Thanks to all for your help though. I guess I'll have to make a run to BB to see if the dimensions are useable. If so, I'll report back here so someone else could be helped.

I saw the bag when I was at BB last week. It is actually a nice looking bag and the price is right. My problem with it is that the padding seemed somewhat flimsy. I guess I'm used to the loads of padding you find with your typical SLR camera bags.

It looks good, though. My husband liked it on me. I wouldn't use it on a regular basis, though. It did not seem it would hold up over time, but for a once in a while deal where camera protection wasn't necessarily needed, it should be fine.

You might try the camera bag/purse at Wal-Mart. It's less expensive, and I like that it has a flap as well as a zippered top to make it more secure. Haven't seen one myself, but I may go by and check it out.

My wife looked at the same bag from Best Buy and like it so much that she told me (think she hinting) that it would work perfect for an XSI, (2) lenses, flash and accessories. The best Buy bag is larger than the Wal-Mart bag the one suggested by Raivyn but both were nice bags, well for the wife anyway.

Suggestions welcome.

I have many bags, but none that look like this one. I guess it would be wonderful to have if I cared to look like I needed to carry a large bag. But for most events I go to, I am the pro there, so I need to have the bigger bags. Yet, I may just go to Best Buy in the morning. :) Actually, I just ordered a Kata 214 yesterday and will be getting it on Wednesday. Bags with thick straps work better for me.
