My cat either runs from the camera or to it and she complains the entire way. I think the flash recharging annoys her.

I bet Canon gets a laugh daily from photo forum posts!

I am waiting for the post where somebody states that their 40D mated with their D40, and now they have a new camera sporting a 40 double d with a split personality nicknamed Sybil.

I am curious how the experiment with the dog pans out, though, very funny! Maybe your dog is just a ham...

We resent that inference.... :p

What lens were you using? Was it a USM lens?

She may have ears extra sensitive to ultrasound?

Mine is that way when I grab the Slingshot for the same reason. If I gram the shoulder bag he keeps sleeping, it's just the slingshot.

Wow, I wonder what Canon thinks about 85% of the posts on these boards. Wonder if they laugh hysterically or just shake their heads in disbelief haha. I am still waiting for an "I got abducted by aliens while shooting with my 40D" thread.

Hey, Ive had a 40D for 8 months and haven't gotten abducted by aliens...... Is that covered under warranty?

Our youngest cat takes off when I focus with one of my USM lenses. Our other cats don't seem to hear it though.

I thought all dogs were sensitive to ultrasound. For most people with normal hearing, dog whistles are ultrasound.

Hmm, now that you mention it, whenver I hit the "*" button on my camera, I have the urge to sit and stay...

I dunno...

I may just have to get out a certain high performance mike I own and my O'scope. You guys that are ridiculing this---there MIGHT just be something to it.

The flash charging circuit is a hi-freq oscillator/ switching circuit, and it could make noise--some of my old flashes even I could hear on start of the charging cycle, and it certainly could be the focus motor bothering the dog.

I can hear my 580EX whine. It starts low then quickly hits a very high pitch and I'll bet it keeps on going up out of the range that I can hear. Cats can hear at higher frequencies than dogs but of course it's beneath their dignity to come to a whistle.
