if you find a camera that will blow up my wife, i'm interested :p

buy me a 1DSmkiii and 600mm and 800mm, a tripod to support them, while we are at it, a 1200mm, give her the bill and she will explode, win/win situation

Try asking your local airport security... from the way they act, it seems they know several models of camera that are capable of blowing things up

It's called Canon for a reason.
Don't you know about the little button on the side?

First try turning off the AF beep when it locks autofocus (don't let her see you take out the camera), and half-press the shutter button. If the reaction is still the same, wait until another time after she's calmed down, and try and taking off the lens and half-pressing the shutter button (again, without letting her see you take it out). That should help to narrow down the problem.

Our cat usually decides to lick himself "there" until I get bored and go away.

My wife called me a "dog" the other day after doing a model shoot. But I still can't hear anything unusual.

Some dogs are camera shy! One of my dogs poses when I take out the camera, the other one just looks away.

:D Mine just barks and wont sit still for a capture...once the camera is out of the bag it's woof woof woof!

I have 3 dogs: 1 is a ham and loves to be the subject of attention, 1 really doesn't care either way, and 1 runs away when I have my camera out...even if it is turned off. With training he is getting better.

Some flash units emit a very high pitched whistle / whine, does the 40D unit, did you use flash when you used the camera to 'shoot' the dog?
