Ok, I'm new to shooting with a DSLR. I've been a video guy since '83 and recently wanted to get quality photos on my site. The Reno show was my third attempt at capturing the action. I'm still messing with settings on the 40D to get the best combination of F stop vs speed. Getting propellers to blur is the most challenging. Here's a couple of shots:

I also just shot my first air show this past weekend, the air show I attended was at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. I have a thread going with my shots here in Transportation also.

Both shots look great, my only point would be the blown out white on the Thunderbird jet. Other than that, they both look good to me. :)

Awesome effort Keith...

And welcome to POTN! Hope you'll post more as you get them tweaked.

Well, looks like you got the jets down pat. Those are some great shots. Welcome to the forums. Now lets see some prop planes :D.

Thanks, here are a few props- I'm chicken so kept a faster shutter until I get used the the camera. I shot these with a 100-400L IS that I got a day before going to the show. Got used to the lens after several shots.

The second set is nice as well. Looks like you did a fine job at that shutters speed and it's about time to slow it down ;)

Sweet set love the props.
Really want a 100-400 myself soon as I can save up my pennies.

Thanks :) Here's a couple air racers battling. I'm off to the California International Airshow in Salinas, Ca. Got to get all the video and still gear packed for the 4 am drive.
