Florida Birds # 3

These are the last from my visit to a city park last week-end.

The first is called a "coot" locally, but I have no idea if that is correct. (The coots I'm most familiar with are old gray-haired ones who migrate here from up north and drive their big white cars really slow. LOL)

The other is a heron, but again I need help identifying the specific type.

Both taken with handheld D-Rebel and 75-300 mm IS.

The first one is a Common Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus).

The second one is a Green Heron (Butorides virescens). Most of them that I've seen in California have just a little green and more brown. When you get them agitated, they will raise their head's crest. When they are trying to hide, they point the bill straight upward, so all you see is something that looks like a sharp stick.
