Flash kinda kills the skin tones to me.
The first is good, but not too interesting. The b&w picks up thought as it feels kinda like a farm or barn type shot. Cool Id say.

The color version looks more "alive", but the B & W conversion holds your interest longer.

Congratulations!

I like the color version best, but both are rather bland to my eyes. How did you do the B&W conversion? I disagree with bob that it holds my interest longer. It just looks like a lump of mid tones to me. Here's a conversion that appeals to my eyes:

Something happened to one eye in grips.edit?

Instead of a B&W, every so often a desaturation of color can make a different look.

I like the original colour shot best and what i like best about the shot is the very natural expression you have captured.
I see you shot it at a 60th of a second at f4.0.
Rather slow for hand held assuming it was not on a tripod but the focus is off seems to be on the top of her forehead rather than the all important eyes which should be pin sharp.
Maybe a bit of camera shake at 1/60th or just missed the focal point.

Did you pull the color version off? I only see the b/w in someone else's quote.

I don't see the color version but I think the noise doesn't have a good effect on the skin in the B/W version. It makes her skin look very rough and unflattering.

Billkouk if you don't have an image up for critiquing you should ask for the thread to be locked.
