Just did a quick test to see at what shutter speed I can shoot with my new CyberSyncs. I was hoping to get 1/250, but to my surprise, I can shoot at 1/320! :D Alot better than the 1/160-1/200 I was getting with my V2's. AND the CS's fire every time.;)

Test Pics (exif intact):

1/250

Just curious. Would that apply with the camera in the landscape position?

Not sure why that would make a difference, but gave it a try with the same results. Start to see the shutter at 1/400.

excellent

Any faster shutter speed than the x-sync is most welcome for strobist activities

nice work

I want to see some tests like this. Use two identical flash units at the same power setting. Comparing a sync cord to a radio system in the same frame eliminates other variables.

What function of a radio trigger would allow you to exceed the max sync speed of the camera?

There's nothing in a radio trigger that lets you exceed the max sync speed. Basically, what one would test for is how close it'll get to the max sync speed of the camera. Most good radio triggers will easily keep up with the max sync speed of the camera (and by max sync speed, I'm not necessarily talking about the published max sync speed but the practical sync speed which is often a fraction of a stop faster than the published max sync speed). And then there are some that lag behind the max sync speed by just a tad (1/200 instead of 1/250) or by a lot (1/160 or 1/125 instead of 1/250).

That's what I was getting at - the camera determines the sync speed in a good set-up.

Excellent work, Tim! I nominate you for measurebator of the month award!

What camera body were you using?

MOTM! YES!:D

1st series of shots were with my 30D. The shots with both flash units were with my 20D. Doesn't seem to be much, if any, difference.
