I would have put this up on the day but I was still shaking from my experience.

As I said that I was heading off to the common on thursday to see what was going on in the bird world but I got was more than just a duck or a wagtail.

All I had was my 600-scope and wobbly pod, but there where 3 shots that are as good as I could ever get.

IMAGE: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/madas/600mmtopospreycopy.jpg

If I dont get any more shots this year I'll look back at what was a beautiful day.

many thanks

jason

Nice catch Jason. It has the look of one of our Osprey's.

Is this a rare sighting across the pond or a difficult bird to photograph? Sometimes we take things for granted with what is available to us...which is why posting/sharing images may spark an interest in someone else.

Congratulations on the capture....sounds like you had one of those memorable days. :D

Yes, Duane, this is unheard of this end of the country, so Jason has every right to be over the moon!! They are much more widely seen up in central and northern Scotland, with a few in the midlands and north-west of England.

Congrats Jason! as Duane said we sometimes take things for granted, in the summer I could stay in my yard and need two hands to count the number of times Ospreys cross over my house in the run of a day.( I still get excited seeing them :D) but when you see something that is not common to your area the day is as you say Memorable! Well done with the scope and wobbly mount!

Congrats on this memorable capture, and it's beautiful to boot :) I love seeing the upper side of them when they fly.

I had a similar feeling as you did when I saw Bald Eagles nesting in San Diego county last year. I still love the memories although my pics weren't all that great since I wasn't able to get close enough.

Excellent shot and a great find Jason. It's always a great feeling to get a shot of a rare species. :-)

Best regards
