Pretty much same setup as last time, got some quieter fans and moved the HDD down to the 3.5 bay position, super quiet now. Also found a nice stable 4.2 GHz overclock and added 8GB more ram since last posting.

Not sure when I updated last.

Supermicro X8DAi (dual socket 1366).
2x Xeon X5550 (2.66 Ghz, Turbo 2.93 GHz, 8 cores + hyperthreading total).
36 GB ECC unreg.
Sound system is now Rokit 6 pair of Monitors + 12" JBL subwoofer. Woof woof.
Triple head 20" HP, 30" Dell, 24" Dell.

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

That's quite the rig... What do you use that for? I built something similar for work (dual X5660s though) as a hardcore video/rendering rig. I always loved just opening up task manager and looking at all the cores.

No gaming. I'm a software developer so it runs a lot of compilation, scripting and the like. Right now this is a combined workstation/gimp/webbrowser and serves as server for all the diskless boot machines in the basement.

No task manager, it's running Linux (Debian/stable) :)

Let's see -- finally got my parts in and my machine built. Here's the final list:

MB: Asus P8H77-V LE
CPU: Intel i7-3770k (cheaper than the 3770 at Microcenter)
GPU: EVGA GTX 650Ti
PS: Rosewill Capstone 550M
Case: Rosewill R5
Memory: 8GBx2 GSKILL Ripjaws X-Series
HD: Western Digital Black 1TB 7200 RPM Sata 6.0Gb/s
DVD: LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk
OS: Windows 7
Monitor: Dell 2312HM
Cooling: Logisys Theta 31 heatsink/fan

Build went smoothly with the exception of the stock Intel cooler. It's the same one I've got on my box at work, but this one seemed extremely loud even at low speeds. I got rid of the stock and bought an inexpensive replacement with a backplate. At the moment the fan seems to be running much more quietly.

I have an AMD and CS6 works pretty well. AMD's good for graphics and Intel's good for multitasking so I think I'd go with AMD.
