Picked it up yesterday and I'm about to have a play, also picked up:

Sigma 10-20
Canon 430EX Speedlite II

Both used to take this shot.

I'm a very happy chappy :D - And I cannot believe I went for SO LONG without an external flash, think I'm going to bury myself in Strobist this week :p

And that image is hopefully the last one that the 350D will take in it's current state...it's being sent away to lifepixel ;)

Anyway, yay! :D \o/

Congrats! Based on the image quality of the 50D, I will either wait a long time and get one of them, or if it is not a huge improvement over the 40D, I will get a used 40D. And yes, speedlites rock! I have a 550EX and plan on getting a 420/430EX as my next purchase to use as a wireless slave. :)

Congrats!! IMO, the 40D is the best bang for the buck in the Canon line up right now. I use mine side by side with my 5D and I love my 40D; enjoy it!

Why would it be to late?

Never too late Phate - disregard the 'late' posts...it sounds like some people suffer from 'premature emasculation'.

The 40D is a beast of a camera with all the right tools, features and qualities which suit both amateur and professional photogs. Once you've got your head around the menus and custom functions...you'll be right at the top with the big boys and girls.

The 17-40L and 70-200L make a fantastic partnership btw. Add a couple of primes to the mix then you'll be 'president' of the club in no time!! :) Congrats and happy shooting.
