Okayyyy ... aaannnddd ... Got it! Crop the trees out, but leave it like it is. Print it! No, wait! - reshoot, but with shallower DOF - No, wait! more DOF. Focus on the bale - No wait! - the flowers! NO! BOTH! Fix it in post! 69! 86! Burn the bale!!!!!

Ha! Just having a bit of fun with you! :) The response has been great and much appreciated. See why I was having trouble deciding?

I believe I'll go back and give it another whirl - and bring the tripod this time. I've done a pretty hefty crop on this one (wasn't careful enough during the shoot) and combined with not being able to hold it steady enough, I'm afraid it will not display well when enlarged. I think I did oversharpen somewhat and I think I'd rather gain more sharpness through the lens. I'll play with DOF a bit and see which elements come together best. Gail, I'll try to hunt down a few flower/butterfly closeups as well (lots of butterflies there). This was more of an unplanned "surgical strike" - "in-and-out" quick on the way to work kind of shot.

Thanks again to all. The time you took to consider what might improve the image means a great deal.

Mark

Try each and every suggestion. Compare them and choose for your self which most appeals to you personally. Besides, you will benefit from the practice--practice never hurts.

Drove by today. The bales have been hauled to the barn. :( Guess I'll try to re-edit what I have of this shot. I have a few other angles from the initial "shoot" I can play with as well. Thanks again for all the input.

Regards,
Mark
