I've been wanting to get into photography for a VERY long time, but never really picked up how to really use a camera until recently. That said, I tend to just carry my camera around and look for art on the streets. Hope you guys enjoy and please provide your critiques and comments.

Best,
s

Looks like you have a pretty natural eye for urban details...an art in and of itself.

Good start!

You do have a good eye, excellent start. Lets critique each one though:

#1 - Nice colors in the photo. My biggest complaint is the cars in the background.
#2 - Great repetition in the photo. I'd say some of the photos look slightly washed out but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially considering it's not what you're going for. Try that as a black and white conversion.
#3 - Interesting shot, although the subject isn't very compelling. Good DoF work.
#4 - I can't tell what I think of it. On one hand the colors are nice and it works on a few levels. But shots of manhole covers (I've shot them before too) are sometimes a bit cliche.
#5 - Nice colors, especially in the reds. My problem with the photo is the area around the pedal seems very cluttered.

Keep shooting though, you have a great start.

You have got your focusing technique down, all the shots are nice and crisp.
I like the first but would definitely crop out the cars, the colours are strong in this.
I like the second as well but would be tempted to crop the wall above what seems to be a damp proof course and some levels treatment in PP to really make the symmetry of the brickwork stand out.
The third is my favourite and works for me as is.
The fourth does not hold my attention but the colours are nice, what was the complete manhole cover like?
Maybe the last in close macro style along the chain with that gold and cherry red colour, i really like the light in this shot:)
