I'm debating between buying more glass (135L) or selling my 5D to fund a 5D MKII. I have about $1500 I can play with.

My current lens lineup are 17-40L, 35L, 50 1.4, 100 macro and 70-200 f/2.8 IS. I shoot mainly people and landscapes.

What would you do?

Are you going to shoot video?

Do you print huge and find yourself disappointed with the detail in the enlargement?

Do you shoot at night and find the ISO limit of 3200 too slow?

If you answer no to those, get the glass.

Video - I doubt it. I have a handycam for that.

Huge enlargements - Largest I've blown up are 45" prints and the 5D looks damn good.

Low Light - Been using my 35L for low light shooting and haven't bumped it past 1600 ISO.

So I guess the answer is glass :)

Neither.
Use the money to go to India, Nepal, New Zealand or Africa, and shoot something you've never seen before.

Judging by the OP's current location I question the feasibility... but not the appeal.

Been all over the Middle East, Asia and South America. New weather sealing would be nice with 5D MKII but so would new glass :)

Lenses can last forever, cameras come and go. OK, I am biased.

Haha.. the Middle East and Africa aren't countries, but I'm sure you just made a mistake...

The Middle East has a lot of interesting places to photograph... if not objectively then of course at least subjectively. Is it that you don't like Dubai?

Nice lens but I would hardly ever use it.
