I'm very new at this. Any comments, criticisms would be greatly appreciated. I didn't edit these either as photoshop is a pretty imposing program to get to learn.

Welcome to the forum.

I think you can safely say neither shot is flattering to the lady in question!

I think the first one is quite eye-catching, although going in close with a wide angle has increased the size of the nose. Also, the arm (I presume) she is resting and the other body parts behind are a little difficult to mentally fathom as you can't see enough of them to know what you are looking at. It is an interesting shot and with a few more goes could be really good.

I don't like the composition or lighting of the second shot. The face in the foreground is bright, the background dark - presumably because you are using on-camera flash. Not much you can do about this without using ambient light + high ISO + tripod. If her head had been on it's side slightly & preferably not dead centre of the frame I think this shot might have been a lot better.

The portraits do not work for me either.
As already said they are not very flattering, good for going for a slightly different angle in the first but the hair and exaggerated nose don't work.
She has lovely brown eyes you could feature those and not with the built in flash, try natural daylight in a window maybe through a muslin curtain to give a soft flattering light.
Speaking of light the landscapes yours are shot in the toughest light there is, strong sunlight blowing out the backgrounds. for me the shot of the rocks in the stream has the best potential but without PP you are always going to struggle to make the best of the light available.
Google some info on leading lines, composition and the rule of thirds this will help loads with landscape compositions and early morning or early evening are usually the best time for the light available.
welcome to the addictive world of photography, there are lots of folks who can give you good advice here on POTN. you don't have to learn everything in Photoshop BTW.
Many people have used it for years and only scratched the surface including me.
The basics are fairly easy once you get going and you could start off with Photo Shop Elements.....Good luck keep at it.:D
