Gymnastics - New Season, New Thread!

It's a new season and my daughter moved from level 4 to level 5. I think she did better than me. I didn't know the routine yet....so I either missed the 'action' shots or there were people in the way. The nice thing is as I was able to stand (a first) and also I climbed up to the second floor and took the vault shots there.

Good Stuff Mike! Glad to see a new thread brewin'! I don't have anything yet, but I'm hoping to get some gym time this weekend. I have a few new toys that I picked up over the summer I am dying to try out! I'll post up when I get something! 'Til then... take care!

Thanks! I wasn't going to post these, but I guess I was bored! I don't have any new toys as far as camera stuff, but I'm not using my wheelchair anymore. I've moved into a walker. I have a 'break' for a weekend, then three meets in a row.

We just started back also. Its our second season and my daughter will competing lvl 6. Unfortunately, my photography skills are back at lvl 4. I keep getting more and more keepers, but sometimes they are not of her best side.

I like the vault shots. Creative positioning. Good job.

Nice shots....need to get around to the front for some more faces though

We start back up in three weeks...... Level 8 for us. Which kinda stinks as the team is only three girls...our level 9 has two girls. However, our Level four is 43 and level five is 38! Amazing how they drop off over time.

Looking forward to seeing everybody's great shots again......

Well over here on the other hemisphere our season has just finished!
This was my first season photographing competitions - it was time consuming, stressful, challenging, and completely enjoyable and rewarding as well!
I defenitely plan on continuing my little business next year when the competitions get started again. I would have really liked to cover the national champs which were last weekend, but the national federation didnt reply to my emails I guess they felt I wasn't professional enough, and maybe they're right!

Randy - I'm just jazzed that I can finally STAND after 2 years! The bars were in the back corner, so I can't set there and the vault pit had a wall. I was lucky enough that I can now walk/climb stairs to get to the vault.

Keltab - I used Noisware on a couple shots, but basically crop, resize, sharpening and post.

I went to practice this evening, so I'll see what kind of results I got....

Nice series, nice to see something 'different' here!

The lighting was better than the last meet and the bars were more accessible than the last time. I used my 300mm f/4L for the bars and the 70-200 f/4L for the beam. All shot @ 1/400 and ISO 3200. Some NR and cropping.

Did these yesterday for my granddaughter. The pics are going to be used in the Parkettes (her gynmastic team) yearbook.
