when i turn on the camera the shutter do a sound like when i took a picture.
on the lasts shots i took appear one big white mark on the center of the picture and one black on the bottom.
could any of you tell me the lifetime of the shutter curtain on the mkIIN?

thanks to all.

I believe it's rated for 250K shots, but that's just a MTBF. It can fail at 1 or 1,000,000. Sounds like you might need to send it in for a little TLC from a Canon repair center.

Post the pic but it sort of sounds like the shutter is not operating properly. Did this just happen a single time or with regularity?

What lens are you using with the camera? I had this same thing happen to me with my Digital Rebel XTi with a Quantaray 70-300 f/4-5.6 Macro. As it turns out, it was a fault with the lens.

My advice would be try snapping some shots with another lens and see if the error99 continues. If not, it's safe to say that you have a lens gone bad.

Good luck!

Hmm.. that sure looks like a shutter blade that did not get out of the way fast enough. A bit surprising based on how slow the shutter speed was at.

Has it happened again? Or was this a one time event.
